About RopeMaster

For twenty-five years I've built model ships. And for twenty-five years I fought the same problem: the rigging.

You can carve the hull, plank the deck, and rig the masts — but the moment you reach for the rope, everything falls apart. Shop-bought rigging cord is flat where it should be round, uneven where it should be consistent, and it never quite matches the scale you're building. Twisting it by hand with a pin and a thumb works for a single length, then your fingers give out and the next length looks different from the last.

So I built the tool I wanted: the RopeMaster 4000.

Why we built it

The RopeMaster 4000 turns ordinary thread into clean, consistent scale rope — from the finest rigging line to thick anchor cable. Feed thread in one end; pull finished rope out the other. Every machine is the same, so every length you make matches the last.

It was designed by a modeller, for modellers. No industrial rope-access nonsense — this is a bench tool for the shipwright's desk.

Hand-built in Tallinn, Estonia

Every RopeMaster 4000 is hand-built and tested in our Tallinn workshop, in the European Union. We don't drop-ship a generic gadget; we assemble and check each unit before it leaves.

Two kits:

• Pre-assembled kit — €239. Ready to use out of the box.
• DIY kit — €179. The same machine as a flat-pack for makers who'd rather build their own tools. All parts included, with step-by-step instructions.

You supply the rail (a 20mm × 20mm or 3/4" length) — everything else is in the box.
